Featured questions and answers
How can I explain my dietary restrictions at social gatherings without feeling awkward?
Can I lower my blood sugar by drinking more water?
Answer: While in some cases dehydration can lead to high blood glucose, drinking water will not actively lower your blood glucose levels. It is important to stay hydrated, but when glucose levels are elevated the most effective treatment options are short acting insulin or physical activity. Consult with your medical team to discuss this further.
Which is better to manage my type 2 diabetes? Cardio or strength building exercise?
Answer: Both cardio and strength-building exercises are beneficial for managing type 2 diabetes. Cardio helps improve heart health, burn calories, and lower blood sugar levels quickly. Strength training, on the other hand, increases muscle mass, boosts metabolism, and enhances insulin sensitivity over time. Always consult your medical team before commencing a new or different exercise regime. By A Fitness Professional, Krakow.
Introduction
to the campaign
Welcome to this year’s World Diabetes campaign hosted by Ascensia Diabetes Care! This is Diabetes, This is Welbeing. Ascensia is proud to put together a campaign which aims to answer questions that are important to you and the wider diabetes community.
Our annual campaign aims to raise awareness of diabetes on a global scale.
This year, we are focusing on the theme of Diabetes and Wellbeing. Millions of people with diabetes face daily challenges managing their condition at home, work and school. They must be resilient, organized and responsible, impacting both their physical and mental wellbeing. Diabetes care often focuses only on blood sugar, leaving many overwhelmed. This World Diabetes Day, let’s put wellbeing at the heart of diabetes care and start the change for a better diabetes life.
The campaign was created by Ascensia Diabetes Care, a global company dedicated to improving the health and lives of people with diabetes. We created the world-renowned CONTOUR® portfolio of blood glucose monitoring systems and are the exclusive global distribution partner for the Eversense® CGM Systems. These products combine advanced technology with user-friendly functionality to help people with diabetes manage their condition and make a positive difference to their lives.
Why should you participate?
Whether you're a friend, family member, or a person living with diabetes, we suspect that there are many questions that you have about diabetes, many of which could help others. We are inviting you to share your questions so our panel of professionals can help you and the wider diabetes community by answering a selection of them during diabetes awareness month in November.

World Diabetes Day
World Diabetes Day (WDD) is the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign reaching a global audience of over 1 billion people in over 160 countries. It is marked every year on 14 November, the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin along with Charles Best in 1922.
WDD was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization and became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the passage of United Nations Resolution 61/225.
