Ascensia Diabetes Care is delighted to host the This Is Diabetes Photo and Art Competition to find the 2022 Diabetes Image of the Year and celebrate World Diabetes Day (WDD). The This is Diabetes Photo and Art Competition is an annual event aimed at promoting awareness of diabetes globally while donating to charities selected by our winners.
We are seeking submissions of photos and artwork that illustrate the importance of Access to Diabetes Care: Education to Protect Tomorrow which is the official theme of the World Diabetes Day 2022 campaign selected by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). We see art and photography as key ways to communicate and educate others about diabetes and access to care.
Why you should Participate!
Do you have a story you want to share that helps raise awareness of the challenges related to living with or supporting someone with diabetes?
Has your access to Diabetes Education influenced your diabetes management?
Do you want the chance to give up to €6,000 to a diabetes charity of your choosing?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want you to submit an original piece of artwork for the campaign.

RULES
- The competition is open to all members of the public and is free enter.
- Submissions can be graphic 2D static artwork or photographs that must be submitted electronically. Videos, animations and sculptures will not be accepted.
- The person submitting the entry, must be the sole owner and author of the submitted photo or artwork.
- Submissions may not contain any logos, trademarks or copyright materials that you do not own. If taking a picture of a product, medication or diabetes devices, please obscure or cover the product and company logos.
- Entries must be submitted by October 30, 2022 by 11:59:59 (Pacific Day Time).

1st Runner Up: €3,000
2nd Runner Up: €1,000
You can select from recognized charities listed in our submission form or select your own, subject to our approval process.

There will be one winner and three runners-up in each of the following categories.
Winners and runners-up can be original static 2D artwork or original photography.

Our Judges are looking for engaging submissions that tell the story of diabetes in line with this year’s World Diabetes Day theme with an emphasis on Education to protect tomorrow, and are creative and original.

In order to take part in the competition, you need to submit one original photograph or graphic static 2D artwork that is related to the World Diabetes Day 2022 theme: Access to Diabetes Care. Education to protect tomorrow.

The contributors of the winning entries will be able to nominate a registered diabetes charity of their choice to receive a donation.

You will be asked to propose your preferred name of the charity of your choice on submission. Please note, that the nominated charity should have been established for at least 12 months, at the time of submission.
You can submit a maximum of 1 photo or artwork per individual.
The winners will be announced on the Ascensia.com website and social media, in addition to being contacted via email on November 14, 2022.
Our judges are looking for creative opportunities that tell the story of diabetes in line with the World Diabetes Day 2022 theme – Access to Diabetes Care. Education to protect tomorrow. The judges will look into the storytelling, creativity and link to the Access to Diabetes Care theme when assessing your submission.
The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the importance of Access to Diabetes Care, highlighting the need for better access to quality diabetes education for health professionals and people living with diabetes.
The person submitting the image will continue to own the rights to their image, but by submitting, Ascensia Diabetes Care is granted permission to use the image in accordance with those outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
Your images will be used on the Ascensia Diabetes Care website and social media platforms.
